So this is my first boat with Cummins diesel’s 2005 6BTA’s 330 hp 450 hrs (Maxum 3700 cy). Purchased in April of this year started to do my first impeller change/inspection on the Sherwood water pumps. The port engine is very simple with easy access, but the Starboard engine, holly crap!! The pump is between the engine and the starboard wall of the boat with about 8″ of room? Before I started I reviewed all your white papers on the difficulty removing the pump due to the mounting bracket engineering or lack thereof. I can not see how you could even remove the impeller cover much less having to remove the pump if needed? Any input from anyone with this problem and how to resolve. I literally could not even take a picture of the pump?

Once you get to the point where you have that starboard pump in hand I would strongly suggest considering putting that pump aside as a port side spare and installing a new SMX pump on the starboard side.

    Looking fwd to the pics

    Starboard engine–No access?

    V-drives?

Put a camera in position and snap a few pics..

But more important, snap pics of the port engine so I can see what you are dealing with overall, but in a place you cannot get to……………I especially want to see the mount area where the isolator is.

If you are in this for the long term, then if you let me “see” , then there are some solutions to make it easier..But, you will most likely pay a big price in “sweat equity” to get it done. If you are willing, then I am here to help.

    Tony
