    • Twin Disc EC-250 electronic with synchronizers and trolling valves

This topic has 5 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byMichael McGuire 1 year ago

October 17, 2022 at 9:21 pm I recently purchased a 2003 Mikelson 50 with Twin Disc EC-250ā€™s with electronic synchronizers and trolling valves. There are three stations and all controls are pitted and corroded. Finding identical units to replace them seems to not be viable. Is there a more current model that can replace this set up? Ā Thank you advance for any insight or input on this topic.

October 21, 2022 at 3:16 am On the Cummins factory supplied transmission oil cooler shown here (6BT 5.9), there is NO real provision for an anode.Ā  The small 1/8″ NPT port / plug was put there to drain the coolant/seawater , or maybe for a seawater feed to a shaft log?.. Maybe we should ask, what were they thinking?

October 3, 2022 at 5:56 pm Hi Tony thanks for the quick response. Had the boat hauled todayā€¦ no response from the port side after the bang was due to the shaft shearing off behind the strut. Prop gone. Shaft was not spinning at idle speed without the prop obviously. Trans side seems ok, now to deal with the rest of the repairs needed. Thanks for getting back to me as quickly as you did.Ā

June 24, 2022 at 6:41 am I searched Tony’s Tips and could not find anything on this, but my ZF280-1A with electric shift will go into forward gear at idle and low RPM, but falls out under loads above 1500 RPM, and there is vibration at that point. Solenioids have been swapped and troubleshot to find no issues. No issues in reverse. Could a clogged filter be the issue? Note that when it does go into forward it is delayed a second or two.Ā
