Freeing Up a Seized Aluminum Detroit Blower?

October 6, 2021 at 4:11 pm Hey Guys, Any recommendations on penetrating oils for freeing up seized aluminum parts? I acquired a blower for a 4-53 Detroit where the previous took the blower off of the motor but didn’t do anything with it. He said the motor was sitting around for 20 years. Before taking the blower apart, I would like to try to free it up first. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Pat

August 16, 2022 at 10:42 am Hi all, This weekend the starboard engine of my boat (Cummins 6bta 5.9) it took a while to start. I had to put the thorttle at full speed until finally fired it up. I inspected the engine to see the route of the problem and I noticed that one of the injector pump was leaking a bit that is why it need an extra help to start by means of priming fuel. QSB 5.9-380 Data Port pin broken

Vacuum Gauge Bouncing

I recently replaced the fuel filter and took all of the fittings apart for my primer ball setup because they were leaking at the connections. I lathered them up in tru blu sealant and put it all back together. Maybe I put too much causing fuel intake issues? 1 year ago August 8, 2022 at 3:59 pm Hello- recently put together my steering system on new boat which includes 2 Seafirst 50cc helm pumps, 1 3/4 bore / 13.8cu in Seafirst ram, msh-6 parker 3/8 hose with swaged on fittings filled and bled using aircraft (have a flyer friend) spec 5604 hydraulic fluid. Very smooth plumbing. 13.5″ steering wheel. Only 90 fitting is at cabin helm where there is a tee to the bridge helm. Not sure where I went wrong here. Steering is silky smooth …

The possible issue I am having is getting the speeds that others get with this vessel. Props were redone to 19-22 or 19-23 cant recall, aftercoolers serviced (they looked decent), new injectors and valves adjust last season. New cutlass bearings and shaft seals. No smoke out the exhaust and fuel burn seems to be on par with factory test. I cruise a…
August 6, 2022 at 5:38 pm Just a suggestion.Ā Ā Get the props checked as they are now.Ā Ā They may be off, one compared to the other, but you won’t be able to see the difference.Ā Ā Otherwise you are chasing a phantom.Ā The load may be slightly higher on the lagging engine. If they are off then get that corrected.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Then test for prop corrections to get the revs up.

When I attempt to back them off even a 1/4 turn to allow fluid to escape and begin bleeding, fluid leaks out of the threads where it screws into the T fitting. DIY aftercooler cleaning?

Iāve heard of doing it basically using a large turkey pot filled with something like purple power and heating it up but not too hot and doing an overnight soak? proper vacuum gauge placement

1 year ago June 28, 2022 at 1:56 pm I am going to add a fleetguard Fs1000 with fleet guard filter head before my racor. I was wondering where is the best place to install a vacuum gauge. There is no provision for a gauge on the fleetguard head so I will have to put a tee in the plumbing.Ā I assume the outlet to the FS1000 would be the correct place for the vacuum gauge instead of the outlet to the racor where as the fs1000 will be the primary filter. thanks in advance
