September 1, 2021 at 1:29 pm Hello All, I am having an issue with my genset. After it runs for about an hour, I get strong odor in the cabin. To me it almost smells like burning oil or coolant. I recently completed an oil change. I did not spill any oil, but nonetheless cleaned the unit and drip pan with a degreaser and bilge cleaner. At times in the season my wife is also claiming that she notices some small amounts of soot residue on the back wall of the aft c…

September 3, 2021 at 4:30 am If the engine is venting more than it should then I would say yes that it will produce an odor. (crankcase gases) How long have you had this genset and is this a new problem? What kind of genset is it and maybe a few pics of it installed and the exhaust system it utilizes

September 1, 2021 at 10:09 am New owner of 40 footer with Cummins 6BT engine. When purchased the coolant recovery bottle was blown out. Replace with OEM part and the bottle blew out again. Only coolant that seems to have been lost was the 1/3 in the tank when engine was cold and engine operated fine after the blowout but made a mess of engine compartment. How is the pressure relived while engine is hot and running?

September 1, 2021 at 5:36 am So about to put my intercooler back together and it has the typical pitting on the internal circular face at the bottom of the body casing, it doesnt cause any issues with sealing, however I was wondering if it was worth filling the pits with a skim of JBweld or something like JB tankweld putty just to prevent condensation etc from reacting and pitting even further? Just trying to eek more years out of the housing! Steve
