    • 6BTA PSI in fuel lines to and from filter?

This topic has 2 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated byAlex 1 year ago

June 8, 2022 at 12:53 pm Hi, I am trying to find out how much PSI are the fuel hoses carrying under operation. These are the fuel supply hoses to and from the on engine fuel filter, last fuel filter before the high pressure pump. Not the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the combo fuel block. I believe these are 13/32″/10mm ID  -8 hoses. The port engine has the relocated fuel filter to the exhaust side, with hoses routed under the oil pan. I want to make sure these…

June 9, 2022 at 4:42 am Thank you Tony. I checked last night and that particular engine is set up with Parker 221fr -8 hoses. The Stb engine has the stock/original hoses with the fuel filter on the pump side. According to Parker specs for pressure and temp are: 500 psi, 3,5 MPa, 34.47 bar 212 °F, 100 °C   I believe I’m good with that setup.

June 8, 2022 at 9:46 am Good morning all. this is an update to a post made in November last year. My 2001 Carver 570 Voyager will not reach max RPM on the starboard engine. Port will reach 1800 plus and starboard will max out at 1400. I realize 1800 is not max also. The boat was reaching 2300 RPM when I purchased it 4 years ago. That changed after a year with no known reason. Cummins recently replaced a bad ECM on the starboard but during the sea trial the programing w…

June 7, 2022 at 8:54 am I was going to do a voltage drop test on my starter circuit and was wondering what would be the best way to crank the motor over. I have a push button starter bypass tool which i could put across the starter relay. Would this be advisable? Thanks

The Engines are in good working order and under 1,000 hours. I wanted to get you the information you asked for and see if you can respond with possibilities for repairs. Th…

April 25, 2022 at 7:12 pm Hey guys, I’m hoping for some good advice.  I have Twin QSC 8.3’s  now at 900hrs. One is smoking only when accelerating, the other one is very clean. This smoke problem has been there for 5 years, possibly getting slightly worse in recent years.  Aftercoolers serviced 2 years ago. No difference since then. How can I check the injectors and fuel injector pump? The boat had sea water in the fuel due to bad fuel breather positions (now fixed) when …

June 6, 2022 at 9:03 pm The exhaust smoke is black when accelerating under load/ underway. The starboard engine exhaust is clear under load.  I think it’s a injector or fuel pump issue (maybe over – fuelling?). I guess that I need to get the fuel system tested by a mechanic with all the tech gear? Thanks Clark.

June 4, 2022 at 12:12 pm I hope I didn’t mess up with using Salt Off I ran a freshwater flush through my strainer cap with Salt Off for 5 mins. When I took it off after and pulled the strainer it was FULL of globs of grease. Did I mess something up here? Is Salt Off a no-no? In a little bit of a panic since that has never happened .. but I’ve never used Salt Off. Thanks.

June 5, 2022 at 6:08 pm Being honest here..   No clue what this stuff is and that using a product other that fresh water from your hose seems beyond stupid to me to flush your engine.. Show me something “factual” that shows something dissolves NaCl better than fresh water. The MSDS for the product is a total “nothing” unless a colorant is important to you.
