    • qsc 8.3 600hp Stbd engine temp comes up idle like it has a load on it.

September 5, 2023 at 1:28 pm I noticed recently that the stbd engine runs about 20 to 30 degrees warmer at idle than the port.Ā  Stbd seems come up rather quickly as if there were a load on the engine.Ā  while running, they are both 172 to 174 degrees at 3400 and 3500 they go up to 176.Ā  I check the load on both, port is is 12% and stbd 14% at idle. oil pressure is about 55 on port and 50 on stbd at startup. stbd does run about 5 to 7 lbs lower than the port. any thoughts?

    • QSC 8.3 Aftercooler Question

This topic has 6 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byBobby Harvey 7 months ago

August 29, 2023 at 4:16 pm I took off my Aftercooler cap on one engine and this rubber washer was on the inside. The cap on the other engine did not have one when I took it off. There was not one of these included in the Aftercooler and Heat Exchanger repair kit (pre-2021) that I ordered from Seaboard so I figured it must not be necessary or critical. But I don’t know. Is this an important component for this Aftercooler? Does it need to be there? It has been running…

August 28, 2023 at 4:04 am Hi,   I’ve got a low oil pressure problem on one of my 450s, After a run at cruise and slowing down to idle, alarm will sound, on port engine. I disconected the Cummins panel alarm a few years ago, as it was always alarming, even with 20PSI at idle. I just use a stand alone 10 psi switch, on the back up Aqua alarm panel. Engines have 7,000 hours on them and have been serviced regularly, their whole lives. Anyone have any ideas?  …

August 31, 2023 at 6:20 am I currently have the 160 deg thermostat installed in my 6bta. I do a lot of drift fishing at idle and slow trolling. My temp gauge usually reads 145-150 even at cruise. Should I switch to the 180 thermostat considering how much idling and slow trolling I do?

August 10, 2023 at 8:33 pm I recall seeing somewhere that you said thatĀ  that dry liners are unsuitable in reconditioning QSB 5.9s.
