Seaboard Marine is pleased to announce the latest addition to our line of Multi-Stage Fuel Filtration Systems. It was about 25 years ago when we first started using simple, off-the-shelf components to design our first Multi-Stage Fuel Filter Systems. At that time, we did not realize the market potential for a fuel filtration system that provided simple maintenance, service, and superior fuel filtration, especially in high-hour commercial applications compared to other commonly accepted fuel filtration systems.

Over these 25 years, three major changes have occurred thereby necessitating a re-evaluation of fuel & fuel filter specifications & needs.
Requirements of fuel filtration systems became more stringent as to fuel cleanliness (higher pressures and/or electronic EUI / CR fuel injection)and 2-3 Micron final fuel filtration is now required with most new electronic engines.
Diesel fuel make-up went from high sulfur to basically no sulfur (ULSD), which reduced inherent fuel lubricity, further exacerbating the need for even better fuel filtration.
Engine power density increased (higher HP & vastly increased TORQUE), requiring greater fuel flows with no added restriction.
These new requirements for fuel filtration systems led Seaboard Marine to develop new and better filtration systems.

Two years ago, Seaboard Marine began addressing these issues by redesigning their filter heads in order to meet the growing needs of the various diesel engine markets. Although our main focus was marine applications, we have also spent time looking into the specific needs of diesel trucks and other industrial applications to be sure we developed a system that would easily adapt to these applications as well. Marine engines are not the only engines that require fuel filtration systems that exceed the minimum standards typically furnished by OEM's (who focus too much on "cost" and seldom worry much past the warranty period).
 
Filter Head Design  
Our goal was to keep the same simple universal base design of our filter heads that adapt to a variety of spin-on type fuel filters, but with these exclusive added features.
Redesigned the ports and internal flow passages to decrease restriction by approximately 40% allowing flow rates to 125 GPH with a minimum of pressure drop. Simple 1/2" NPT porting for both INPUT & OUTPUT ports easily adapts to fuel lines from 3/8" to #12 or 3/4" ID fuel line. No odd type "O-Ring" or metric adapters needed.
Redesigned filter bases so a larger selection of the newer and modern media designed Fleetguard spin-on filters can be used. We now offer the only filter heads available with large non-restrictive porting to take advantage of the new line of fuel lubrication enhancing filters from Fleetguard.
SEAMAX filter heads are made using a high pressure die casting method with marine grade aluminum alloys. These designs include extra "beef" in all dimensions (extra heavy wall thicknesses) to assure the strongest and toughest filter heads available, along with precision CNC machining of all critical surfaces and parts further assuring the finest assembly available. Designed for both vacuum & pressure use applications & tested to a working pressure 150 PSI with a 2 x S.F.
OurSEAMAX filter heads use Fully CNC machined 1020 steel threaded inserts that fit all of the popular filters from Fleetguard, including the unique threaded insert and head designs that allows the use of the "Fuel Lubricating Enhancing Filters" from Fleetguard. Another industry first.
And to top this off, we added a Mil-Spec Type III hard-anodized "marine-tuff"™ black coating to all external surfaces. This Mil-Spec treatment eliminates the problem of corroded steel brackets and bubbling pot metal in the engine room or compartment and when externally mounted under a truck. This coating also accepts paint like no other for matching a particular color scheme if desired.
SEAMAX filter head designs are so unique that they allow us to offer 7 different "kits" along with various options to meet any need and address your fuel filtration needs on a custom basis. All of our systems are built to "Fit Your Vessel", based on space and location requirements, and YOUR application (low-time recreational use that just needs extra protection for the engines, OR the operator that runs hard and long with old fuel tanks full of guck). We always knew that "one size doesn't fit all" as you are led to believe by the OEMs or boat brokers that sell boats. All they seem to know is the word "Racor" and think that is the gospel. How can the same boat that runs 50-100 hrs a year and "gets by" using a single Racor 500 or 900, work with an operator who is a hardcore weekend warrior that runs 500 hrs ++ a year.?. Give that same boat to a 6-pack charter operator that makes his living doing 1500+ hours a year. Now add 20 year old diesel tanks to the mix or a new electronic Common Rail engine. No, one size or type does not fit all.

ULSD Fuel Concerns
Besides the new features and variety of kits already mentioned, we also offer the first system that uses the new Fuel Lubricating Enhancing Fuel Filters technology from Fleetguard (the FS 20000 or FS 22000). Another industry first that will start a flurry of "copy cat" filters to come to market. With Fleetguard you get Stratapore Multi-Stage filter media and the assurance that you will get the best there is for your Cummins (or other color) product. Simple "spin-on" fuel lubrication when using the new ULSD fuels in your pre-2007 diesel engines that were designed with "sulfur in mind". As to the newer electronic Common Rail engines, our largest market for our systems is the US Navy who purchases our systems as an OEM application thru Willard Marine on their new Cummins QSB and QSC equipped high-speed U.S. Military Ribs.
True 2-Mic "last chance" fuel filtration for earlier engines  
Another new feature we can now offer is a true two micron on-engine, or what we call "last chance" fuel filtration kit for all pre-2006 Cummins B & C series (mechanical) Marine Diamond engines that use the Bosch fuel system. This is an industry first and a much needed & requested upgrade to your existing fuel filtration system, which BTW, can also be adapted to other engine makes as well.
Using our commercially proven Multi-Stage #1 kit consisting of a 30~20 micron "bulk", gunk & water separator filter (FS19535), then a 10-5 micron Fleetguard STRAPORE premium filter (FS 1000), which is the second part of our "Multi-Stage" off-engine fuel filtration system (a fuel polisher/water separator filter), you now have a PRIMARY line of defense that will deliver the cleanest fuel possible to your engine. Adding our new on-engine "#6 kit", you will now be delivering two-micron COMMON RAIL quality fuel filtration to the precision components of your injection pump and fuel injectors. All this, with the proven technology and simplicity of spin-on Fleetguard premium fuel filters. Remember, there is no such thing as "too clean" when it comes to your fuel.

We also offer "one-off" kits for off-engine 30-10-2 micron built to your particular needs. For vessels with the popular Yanmar marine engines that have the old fashioned and messy "cartridge" on-engine fuel filter, we can build kits to replace the factory system to our true 2-micron last-chance spin-on system.
